Fan of A New Earth? Watch this.

If you are a fan of A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle, you will most definitely enjoy this. Named one of Time Magazines most influential people, and featured on Oprah's Soul Series. Jill Bolte Taylor's book, My Stroke of Insight, lends physical proof to the ideas found in The Power of Now, Stillness Speaks, and A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle. I recommend tuning into the free webcast on Oprah.com as well. I hope you enjoy it, and remember every time you hear that brain chatter, push it away and focus on the silence.

Congratulations: Design for Mankind

My heartfelt congratulations goes out to Erin at Design for Mankind. Erin made the announcement on Monday that she resigned from her "career" job to work on her blog Design for Mankind full time! Wow! What an amazing accomplishment and inspiration to all of us.

Here is an excerpt from Erin's post:

"Design for Mankind has been growing rapidly since August of last year, and holy speed bumps, I have no idea what to do about it. I didn't realize that my passion for inspiring others would soon become a forum for others to do the same, and I am just so BLESSED to have you all along for the ride. THANK YOU, if I don't say it nearly enough.

With that said, you should all know [hold on to your seat, Dad!] that I resigned from my day job last Friday. It's simply too much, and life is too short to burn the candle at both ends. And I would be totally hypocritical if I encouraged each of you to break free from your boundaries and I didn't do the same. Roadmaps has been the dose of medicine that I needed to feed myself, and that has become quite evident in the past month."

Erin's Roadmaps: A Guide to Creative Pursuit series is a collaboration with Holly at Decor8 and Marisa at Creative Thursday. It is an amazing series geared towards helping us to get motivated and break free from our shells and live the lives we want to live. Check it out!

So Inspired: The Art and Design of Kim Parker

I am totally inspired by Kim Parker. An artist/designer that made it big. It is my dream to make product based on my art, so it is so great to see when other people follow their dreams and make it happen. Kim's latest contribution is her new book. Kim Parker Home

                                    

I think one of the greatest things about how she creates her paintings is that she doesn't plan them out. They are completely organic and born in the moment of brush touching canvas. Love that!

Featured Blog: Pia Jane Bijkerk

This is the featured blog of the week over at decor8. Please go and read her post, and if I could I would go here... It is a heartfelt story about her friend Tenpa, his family, and the injustice being done to the poor people of Tibet. We really need to start changing this crazy world we live in. There is already a shift in consciousness happening in the world today, I send out a prayer that it comes swiftly. We can all do our part. Please go here and sign a petition to help the peaceful people of Tibet. Then, go and buy A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose by Eckhart Tolle. It will help you/us in ways I can't describe here.

So Inspired: Design for Mankind

Thanks to Holly at Decor 8, I just found this great new blog Design for Mankind. It's creator Erin Loechner just launched her second monthly e-zine issue of Inspiration. A collection of inspiration boards from artists and designers filled with great reference, and inspiring words. I think Erin has an amazing idea, and I can't wait to see where she takes it. The universe is filled with unlimited potential, here is wishing Erin the best of all things. Fly baby, fly.

Patiently Waiting for Lulu

I am patiently waiting for the release of Lulu de Kwiatkowski's book Dream in Color. It is being published by American Modern Books. Lulu is an acclaimed designer, her  textile line is called LULU DK , which has been called Casbah chic. Her patterns are bold with vibrant colors and draw on her experiences of traveling the world. Definitely an inspiration to me. I hope you feel the same way.

AMMO writes:
"With a background in painting, textile design, and the decorative arts, Lulu's work blends depictions of flora and fauna, with geometric studies of pattern and color. Memories often appear in the form of hand written text, as well as in portraits of herself and her family members, removed from their original context and integrated into these dreamlike and fictional landscapes. Whimsical, yet complex, Lulu's work conveys a distinctly feminine and decorative sensibility that resonates as both contemporary and timeless."

Carol Maguire

My best friend and favorite artist. A true inspiration for all of you who have decided to make a change and try something new. You can't tell by looking at her paintings but Carol just started painting a couple of years ago. When faced with a crossroads in life Carol chose to live an inspired life. I am so proud of her and love seeing all of her paintings leave the nest. Each one sent out into the world with a kiss and a wish to help inspire and  lift the hearts of their new owners. A true example of Design Healing.
